Understand the psychological transition you're experiencing
going from high school to college and adulthood

You may be approaching your move from high school to college with excitement, relief, maybe some fear, or perhaps a whole range of emotions. Please know that this is normal. This time in your life is a major transition, not unlike other life transitions like getting married, having a child or facing the death of a loved one. It's BIG - for you and for your parents! What you and your family are having to do is let go of a lot of the old and bond with the new. If you can allow yourself to grieve some of what is being lost (your old routine of high school and home) and then move forward to what is new with an open mind, you'll handle the emotions much better.
